Conducted comprehensive desk research on Albania’s tourism policies, regulatory frameworks, donor activities, and tourism strategy documents, with a focus on identifying gaps and opportunities for sustainable development
Mapped and interviewed over 30 stakeholders across public institutions, private sector associations, NGOs, academia, and international donors to gather perspectives on tourism sector challenges, priorities, and intervention needs
Analysed the tourism system at macro, meso, and micro levels to identify key structural and governance gaps, especially in destination management, workforce development, business climate, and regulatory frameworks
Identified strategic entry points for Swiss support, aligned with SECO/SDC approaches, focusing on destination management structures, sustainable product development, regulatory reform, and stakeholder coordination
Developed five project intervention packages with concrete objectives, expected outcomes, risk mitigation measures, and implementation modalities, each addressing a specific level or theme (macro, meso, local, rural/nature-based tourism, and business climate)
Delivered a final report and presentation outlining project proposals and strategic recommendations for Swiss engagement in Albania’s sustainable tourism sector
