Promotion of sustainable tourism in the Fergana Valley in Uzbekistan

For over two years, mascontour has been contributing to the development of sustainable tourism in the Namangan, Fergana and Andijan regions of the Fergana Valley in Uzbekistan. In cooperation with local stakeholders, the project aims to strengthen regional tourism structures and optimize destination management through a holistic and participatory approach.

A central component of this initiative is the Community Tourism Network (CTN) of the Fergana Valley, a growing network of local tourism businesses, artisans and service providers. Launched in 2023, the network connects travelers with authentic, community-based experiences that reflect the valley’s cultural heritage, traditional crafts and natural beauty. The CTN promotes peer-to-peer exchange, capacity building and access to international markets, while strengthening collaboration between tourism stakeholders.

Key measures include capacity building for local stakeholders, the development of authentic tourism products and the creation of strategic marketing tools. These initiatives aim to highlight the cultural diversity and scenic beauty of the region while supporting small tourism businesses and community-based initiatives.

By fostering collaboration between public and private stakeholders, the project creates a resilient and inclusive tourism model that benefits both local communities and visitors. It is a practical example of how sustainable tourism can contribute to regional development and the preservation of cultural values.
