fuTOURiSME Partners Meet in Athens to Shape the Project’s Lasting Legacy

From 23 to 24 June 2026, the fuTOURiSME consortium gathered in Athens, Greece, for its final project meeting. This marked an important milestone in the project’s journey to support SMEs in the tourism sector in their digital and sustainable transition. Hosted by the project’s coordinator, KiNNO Consultants, the meeting brought together partners from across Europe to reflect on the past three years of collaboration and evaluate the impact achieved thus far.

Since its launch in September 2023, the fuTOURiSME project has provided tourism businesses with a wide range of support measures, including funding opportunities, coaching and mentoring services, training programmes, practical tools, and access to knowledge and best practices. These measures are aimed at strengthening the resilience, innovation, and sustainability of tourism businesses.

During the meeting, the partners reviewed the project’s key achievements. These included implementing the fuTOURiSME e-learning platform, carrying out coaching activities, providing support schemes for SMEs, and developing the Sustainability Self-Assessment Tool. The latter helps tourism businesses evaluate their sustainability performance and identify areas for improvement.

The discussions also focused on the future. Although the project is due to officially conclude in September 2026, consortium members are exploring ways to ensure that the knowledge, tools and resources developed through fuTOURiSME will remain accessible and continue to create value for SMEs in the tourism sector, destination managers and tourism support organisations across Europe.

For mascontour, the meeting provided a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences with project partners and to reflect on the impact of the project’s capacity-building activities. As the partner responsible for the development of the fuTOURiSME e-learning platform and training activities, mascontour is proud to have contributed to strengthening the skills and capabilities of tourism SMEs on their twin transition journey.

As the fuTOURiSME project enters its final phase, the consortium is committed to ensuring its lasting legacy. Upcoming outputs such as the Peer Learning Workshop, the Consolidated Lessons Learnt Report and the Sustainable Tourism Toolkit will continue to support tourism businesses in becoming more sustainable, innovative and future-ready.

We would like to thank all the project partners, SMEs, experts and stakeholders who contributed to fuTOURiSME’s success. We look forward to sharing the project’s final results in the coming months.
