A delegation of 15 representatives of the CBT sector (community-based tourism), with participants from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, visited Berlin and Brandenburg at the beginning of July 2022 to take part in a ‘Train the Trainers’ workshop and learn about sustainable tourism experiences in Germany. mascontour organized the visit on behalf of ACTED, the implementing organization of a SWITCH Asia EU project called ‘Sustainable Energy for Tourism’, dedicated to promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy production in the community-based tourism sector in Central Asia. Franziska and Hendrik conducted the training and shared some experiences in sustainable tourism in the Brandenburg region with the group, among these an ecological farm, donkey tour provider, a nature experience center operated by NABU near Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve, and a sustainably managed guest house.
